Blood Mother
What belongs to blood mother can runFrom the open mouth of blood mother
shone a light golden-brown
From this cavernous and moist cavity
escaped a shrill sound
that resembles not my name and yet to be it was bound
What belongs to blood mother will be caught
Her breath felt warmer the closer I got
Her spindly fingers pulled me into an embrace with her bodily rot
What belongs to blood mother will be consumed
Like the wrapping of a present
she unwrapped my skin
What belongs to blood mother will only find peace within
What belongs to blood mother can run
What belongs to blood mother will be caught
What belongs to blood mother will be consumed
What belongs to blood mother can fight its fate
But she, who is a bottomless river,
she, who is the stars above,
she, who the gods wronged, who made you and who they took you from
is crying for you
and one day when her voice reaches you
she will know you've heard
and she will come for you
come to claim what's hers.
What bleeds from the quill of the sleepless at 3:33 am
My inspiration, like a bat, only rises when the sun setsI'd write you a novel,
if sleep wasn't so necessary
And poems I'd have written so quickly
If you didn't mind them bathed in the unholy
brooding shade of the night
Each word so carefully plucked from your mind
and pinned onto a sheet
Why must my muse call for me
Only in the hours of my sleep
And with the blood pooling in my eyes
I'd pen the state of my heart
But the page remains white as snow
for after all, no thoughts does a sleepless heart own
Without you
The Winds are harsher without youScattering my thoughts in your absence
To sum up what remained
I wish the waters would run dry
And the storms would wreak havoc
In lieu of your presence
For, maybe then, I wouldn't be so alone
in my thoughts of you
The Sun
The clouds sneak awayAs if hiding a secret
Flooding me with your warmth
You shine through
Walk By Me
Your pretty voice pitter patters in the rainProviding the rhythym to our steps
As we run through the field, laughing
Freezing in the rain, yet warm in our embrace
Love Story
I breathe my smoke into herUntil her fair skin turns ashen like mine
Her lungs fill up with darkness
And yet her tearful eyes search within mine
For even a speck of the love that she nurtures for me
